A Small Orange Review 0 out of 100 0 user ratings

A Small Orange is a popular web host, that doesn't oversell and offers only reasonable resources for the price they charge. Unlike Hostgator or Bluehost, they do not have unlimited shared hosting plans, but they do provide what they advertise.

Started in 2003 by Tim Dorr, they grew up steadily on basis of the superior customer support and word of mouth publicity. The founder was known for his willingness to go out of his ways to support even a customer who is paying as low as $5 per month. Later in 2011 the company was taken over by Brent Oxley of Hostgator, who was able to maintain their reputation and even improve that by bringing in more professionalism. In 2012, the company was taken over by Endurance International, who owns a large number of hosting companies including Hostgator and Bluehost. In spite of being part of the world’s largest web hosting group, A Small Orange is able to maintain their core values of great support, no overselling etc. They are still a small to medium sized company, with 30 + employees and thousands of customers around the world.

A Small Orange Features

A Small Orange use cPanel, just like most of the web hosting leaders. cPanel is considered to be the best control panel around and you get a lot of features standard. With cPanel, you get script installers like fantastico, easy backup and restore options, ability to set cron jobs and even the ability to move site from one host to another (only the super user can do it, using WHM) with just few clicks. Feature wise, most shared hosting users would be more than happy with what they get.

As mentioned, A Small Orange does not provide huge resources as they do not over sell. The smallest package "Tiny" offers only “250 MB” space, 5 GB of bandwidth and you can host only one website per account. However, most people tend to appreciate the fact that they do not oversell, which means their servers are not going to host resource hungry sites thus resulting in overall better server performance.

A Small Orange Coupon

There are two type of coupons you can use for ASmallOrange – 15% off coupons or $5 off coupons. Use the one which gives you maximum discount, based on your order total. We recommend the coupon "15PERCENTOFFASO" for 15% off from the total amount. For more coupons and latest offers, please visit the A Small Orange Coupons page.

A Small Orange Performance

We have a website hosted with them – wpcoupons.com for the last few months and our experience so far has been positive. Site loads fast and there hasn’t been any downtime noticed. We are in the process of adding an automated monitoring system and watch this space for more accurate reports in the near future. As of now, ASO gets a big thumbs-up from us, for the server performance and uptime.

A Small Orange Price Value

A small Orange is supposed to be relatively more expensive than the typical over sellers. However, they do have small packages which come out to be even cheaper than most over sellers, even though resources are low. Their shared hosting packages ranges from $3 per month to $30 per month, depending on the resources available. Cloud VPS and dedicated hosting could be more expensive, obviously. We actually love their cloud VPS offers, which come with ample amount of RAM at reasonable prices. Considering the level of service and the range of packages available to suit every users need, we would rate A Small Orange as value for money.

A Small Orange Support

A Small Orange is well known for their high quality customer support. They offer the typical 24/7 support via phone and support tickets and email. Chat support is available 24/7, Monday to Friday. The response time for tickets are reported to be pretty good, with less than one hour initial response time reported for most of the tickets.

Personally we couldn't comment on the exact response time, as we never had to contact the support so far. While we hope that remains so for the near future, with A Small Orange, customer support is the last thing one need to worry about. At least that is what most of their customers claim in their own support forums and hosting forums like Webhostingtalk.
